Welcome

Paterson Rotary Foundation Provides Grant to PANTHER Interact Club for Gift of Life Sponsorship.
On April 2nd, The Paterson Rotary Foundation presented a ceremonial check to the PANTHER Interact Club. The Foundation of the Paterson Rotary Club awarded a $2500 grant to the Interact Club, after the Interact Club raised $500 on their own. Together, the funds will be matched by the Rotary International District 7490 to cover the $6,000 cost of sponsoring a Gift of Life Child. Through the Gift of Life program, children with life-threatening heart defects are brought to the United States for life-saving heart surgery. The child and one guardian will stay with a host family, which the PANTHER Interact club has already secured. Paterson Rotary Club Foundation Chair, Peter Garafano presented the check to the Interact Club at the April 2nd Paterson Rotary Club meeting.

Share What You Do With a Paterson High Schooler: Focus On The Future
Would you be willing to share a day with high school students to help them learn about your occupation and encourage them to focus on their future? Join the Greater Paterson Chamber of Commerce, the Paterson Rotary Clubs, and the Paterson School System for the third annual Paterson Focus on the Future Day. Here’s your chance to give a high school student a glimpse into a day in the work life of your career. On Wednesday, April 29, 2009, you will be assigned a Paterson high school Junior or Sophomore who, after careful research, has decided the s/he would like to learn more about your occupation.
Your student(s) will be dropped off by school bus at your place of employment or a nearby central location at about 9:30 am and will stay with you until about 1:30 pm. One your students arrive, give them a tour of your workplace and ask for their help with projects on which you are currently working. Provide your students with lunch and get to know them. Assign the students a task that will expose them to as many aspects of your business as possible. Have the students follow you around so that they can see what you do during the day, and introduce the students to the many different responsibilities and requirements of your position. As our way of saying thanks, all sponsors will receive a special certificate of appreciation signed by representatives from all of the sponsoring organizations, plus the satisfaction that comes from helping young people to set goals for their future.
